| About Me | Raised in Cuba Ala. left my Jr yr in high school (Sumter County High) to spend first 1/2 Sr yr at Meridian, Miss High then to Auburn High School in the am and Auburn University in the pm of my Sr yr. After that I enrolled at Auburn full time until Eddie Allen (husband at that time) joined the Air Force and we headed to Phoenix, Arizona. I have been a Real Estate Broker for 25 years and worked mainly in land development. Have been the Property Manager for the development of "Estate Lots" in the northwest Tucson after relocating there after Eddie went abroad. I worked as a Property Manager building $500.000 lots (managed the zoning and installation of infrastructure). Also did some property management at Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson working on the 4th 9holes of the golf course (designed by Tom Fazio); worked on the Flying V Restaurant at Ventana and many other improvements there at Ventana Canyon. I had an opportunity to work between Tucson and Salt Lake City, Utah for a while. The corporation I worked for bought 6,000 acres at "The Point" just outside Salt Lake City in the Wasach Mountain Range to build another resort similiar to the one in Tucson (Ventana Canyon Resort). We worked with Johnny Miller (golf course design), outstanding engineers and architectural designers and Robert Redford while in the planning stage. The company never completed the project because of financial downturns but my husband and I were so fortunate to meet several aldermen and the head of the Utah Travel Council all of which sat on the board of a private adoption agency. About the time we found that we could not have children these gentlemen stepped up to help us get our Jessica through the agency they worked with. It was a miracle in our life. The work was wonderful and enriched my life in so many ways; but none like bringing home the little 7 + pound baby girl in l988. I am sure none of you wanted to know this much about me but I guess I am just in a sharing mood tonight. I miss the work so much but raising Jessica has been the high point of our lives. NOW....empty nest syndrome and bored out of my gourd. Volunteer work is fulfilling but only to a point. Anyone want to build a resort? golf course? develop land? Just in case I am your girl...... t...(read more) |
