SHS Class of 1968, 55th reunion! Saturday, June 10, 2023, 7:00 - 11:00 p.m. at Marco Polo Restaurant, 527 Morris Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901. $85/person (includes food, open bar, tax, and tips).
PLANNED ACTIVITIES:
Friday, June 9, 5:00 p.m.: Happy hour at the Short Hills Hilton. Cash bar. Dinner on your own with friends or at the Hilton. (This cost not included in the Reunion fee).
Saturday June 10, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Optional picnic lunch at Watchung Reservation Sky Top Covered Pavilion. Sloppy Joes, salads, bottled water from Hill City Deli. Separate cost of $10/person, payable with reunion fee.
Saturday, June 10, 7:00 p.m.: Reunion party at Marco Polo, $85/person. 'Then and Now' slide show of our class at the reunion party. Please send a current photo of yourself to Doris Cochran-Fikes at cochranfikes@verizon.net, to be included in the slide show, even if you are not planning to attend.
OTHER THINGS TO DO:
Take a nostalgic stroll down Springfield Avenue. For Summit stores, restaurants, professional services, and more, see the Summit Downtown Directory. The Summit Antiques Center is the area's best destination for all things antique and vintage. The Mall at Short Hills is NJ's premier shopping destination. Check out The Raptor Trust sanctuary in Millington to visit injured birds. Other activity options may be added later. Stay tuned! ACCOMMODATIONS:
Available at the Short Hills Hilton, 41 JFK Parkway, Short Hills, NJ 07078. A block of rooms has been reserved for our reunion. Short Hills Hilton https://book.passkey.com/go/SummitHSReunion. Cut-off date to reserve through the room block is Wednesday, May 10, 2023. The hotel has a restaurant, two bars, fitness center, indoor and outdoor pool, tennis. It's near the Short Hills Mall, and very close to Marco Polo and downtown Summit.
If you prefer other accommodations, there are several other hotels/lodgings in the Summit area.

Friday, 5:00 p.m., happy hour at the Grand Summit Hotel, HAT Tavern (formerly the Hotel Suburban and Hunt Club). Cash bar. Friday dinner on your own with friends or at the HAT Tavern. Not included in reunion fee.
Saturday 9:00 a.m., Watching Reservation hike, organized by Cindy Bearer. Meet at Trailside Museum parking lot (green trailhead). Two loops (1.1 mi. and 1.2 mi). Participants may do either or both loops.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. golf outing at Summit Municipal Golf Course, organized by Kent Peterson and Jeff Pocaro. 9 holes: $14 plus $5 for prize pool = $19; OR 18 holes: $28 plus $5 for prize pool = $33. Please pay golfing fee at the window, and the $5 prize fee to Jeff at the entrance. Contact Kent Peterson (kentpete@hotmail.com, 206-334-8612) with your firm commitment ASAP but no later than April 29. Indicate number in your party and whether you wish to play 9 or 18 holes. A minimum of 12 golfers is needed to hold this event.
Saturday 12:00 noon, tour of SHS, organized by Mary Spangler, followed by lunch in the cafeteria.
Saturday 1:00 p.m. lunch (catered by Hill City Deli, with assortment of sloppy joes, salads, water, soda) $12 (payable with reunion fee).
Saturday 2:00 p.m., photo scavenger hunt.You will get a list of Summit landmarks, including your childhood home. Drive by and take pics with your phone. You may work in groups or singly. First person or group to email Jan with all the pics attached is the winner. jan50esq@verizon.net. Prize awarded at the dinner.
Saturday 7:00 p.m., dinner at the Elks Lodge, buffet dinner catered by Fiorino Ristorante, organized by Ed Micone, Jan Sofield, and Mary Spangler. $68 per person.
Sunday morning, breakfast at Grand Summit. If you are staying at the hotel and book with the group block, breakfast is included in the group rate.

The 40th was so much fun we decided to do it again in 2010! The "Committee" has been working for months and we now have a date, a time, and a place. More to come! Last Reunion had about 140 people and, with more organization this time, we hope to have about half the class attend. The hotel we selected has the bar/restaurant capacity for all of us, and we have negotiated a room-rate for those that need a room for a night or two at a whopper of a discount! As for the price mentioned in this announcement - it is not final! It's a place holder! The last reunion was $100 so the Committee is guessing that this one will be more because of inflation, and we have a jump on the planning to give us more options. The final price will be announced by the Reunion Committee when they have everything locked down. Also, I have contact information for about half the class, so if you are looking for anyone, contact me. There's a fair chance I have their contact information. (I'm also seriously looking for other class members, so if you know of any....!)
