TODD'S PROFILE

First Name | Todd |
Last Name | May |

Gender | Male |
Hometown | Rapid City, South Dakota |
Relationship Status | Married |
About Me | Todd May is a dedicated husband to his wonderful wife Pat and father of 3 children, Ethan, Hannah and Caleb. We strive to keep Christ at the center and focus of our home which is ever more difficult these days as the "prevailing winds" of our culture blow harder and try to ensnare us with things that don't really matter (but take all our time away). Todd started out in high school working on his Uncle's farm in the summertime learning how to be a resourceful farmboy & mechanic. High school was less about calculus and physics and more about welding and machine shop class and building street rods with like minded friends and family members. A high school accomplishment was graduating and successfully passing the State certification for welding--not exactly a stellar resume for college entrance. After high school, Todd worked as an automotive mechanic at a Chrysler dealership in his hometown of Rapid City, SD. It was work that was extremely fulfilling because you could solve peoples' problems and make money at the same time. An accomplishment was successfully completing NIASE mechanic certification tests (7 out of 8 areas) in 1981. He also professionally built and drove dirt track race cars as a hobby in those days. This was NOT entirely fulfilling due to the high work / fulfillment ratio associated with this endeavor. However, you chalk it up to experience and realize you learned a lot of things associated with authomotive systems and got to exercise your innovation & competitive "juices". After a brief stint as a car salesman (~ 1 yr) in the mid-80's, Todd decided to embark on academe and enrolled at SDSM&T. Never having really been a stellar student before (in high school) he found in college that it was easier than he thought it would be--even excelling at times! He came to the conclusion that you actually have to "work" at school in order to reap the benefits of learning. What a concept! It was great fun and graduation came up fast in 1989. Then it was off to Chrysler and graduate school (certainly not as much fun as undergrad'). After 2 years of 6 work assignment rotations and night school at University of Michigan, he graduated from the Chrysler Institute. Todd is a veteran automotive engineer at Chrysler LLC for the past 21 years and a graduate of the esteemed Chrysler Institute of Engineering. He has worked in various capacities at Chrysler including rear suspension design, steering systems, vehicle dynamics, production support in a vehicle assy plant and wheel & tire Center of Competency. One of his career highlights at Chrysler was 3 years on the Viper project where he worked as the suspension, wheel / tire & brake engineer for the 97-99 model year Dodge Vipers. Some of the most fulfilling work has been in the last 6 years where he has found a niche in wheel & tire engineering. One of his specialties is the mechanics of wheel & tire assy & has solved numerous problems associated with balance & uniformity stability over time. Another area of personal passion is upgrading wheel finishes to better withstand corrosive environments on Chrysler vehicles. One common thread of his life he's discovered in the last year is that he's always built things...reflecting back through the pages of life experiences you start counting the things youv'e built: fishing rafts in the basement when you're 6 (out of scrap wood pcs); gocarts to race down the street when you're 9; a city of treeforts at 12; street rods in high school (thank God we lived through that); dirt track cars as mechanic; building rooms in the basement as a middle aged guy. Among other things, one of the ways he pursues happiness is building and fixing things. Some passions Todd enjoys are: 1) Being a "voice" and change agent in support of conservative political causes in America. 2) Investigating & discovering how well Biblical Christianity accords with historical evidence and scientific principles. It's truly amazing once you check it out! Of course He is God. 3) Ministering to seeking Muslims about the truth of Biblical Christianity. That's the only way to "beat" them...make no mistake they are advancing on us. 4) Experiencing the joy of your kids growing, maturing and advancing in life's stages. What else can we say?...he is a blessed man and humbled at the fact that G...(read more) |
