| About Me | "Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened." Having been born and spent the majority of my life in Millinocket, Maine, I tell everyone it's the beginning of the Appalacian Trail, rather than the end! What a better place to live, make a home and raise two fantastic children. I have two wonderful, loving parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and married into the best family any girl could hope for. I graduated from Stearns High School in 1974, Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1977 and returned to UMO in 1991 to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Nursing which I received in 1993- yes, same year the Black Bears won their first National Title! I dabbled a little in OR nursing but after a year decided that wasn't for me; did 10 yrs in Labor & Delivery and the rest of my 30+ years has been in Critical Care, my true love. I left Millinocket Regional Hospital after 29+ yrs. and have finally found my "retirement job" as my hubby calls it. After working pool for over 10 yrs. in the CCU/CSU at EMMC, I FINALLY landed a permanent position in the Pre-Anesthesia area; no more nights, weekends OR holidays......YESSS!! I miss every minute our kids were at home, following their school activities and sporting events (which I can honestly say I NEVER missed a one of!!) We had quite the hockey "family" when they were in their younger years. Watching them grow into two wonderful, successful, mature, fantastic adults has been the one thing in life that has given me the most pleasure and pride. Family is everything...always. The newest addition to our family is our black lab, Baxter. He was born on Carl's mom's birthday and had a little white heart on his chest...we saw that as an omen and just HAD to have him!! He is definitely a "momma's boy", but who spends more time with him than me?! He was 56 on January 28th this year and weighs 80 lbs.! With good health, the love of family and friends and a new job that I LOVEEEE, who could ask for more?! Life is good, we are truly blessed and for this I am forever thankful. A lot has happened since I updated this last...on 09-15-12, Nate married an amazing young woman, Lindsey Yard, whom we love as a daughter. They are immensely happy, in love, focused and motivated! Nate was recently promoted to Assistant Vice President of the TD Charitable Foundation and is pursuing his MBA part-time. Lindsey is enrolled in courses @ CMMC, fufilling many of the pre-requisites for the nursing program & will officially apply this Fall. Holly is following in my footsteps with her love for the adrenaline rush only found in critical care area, is excelling as an ICU nurse here @ EMMC & is flirting with the idea of nurse anesthesia in her future. Carl & I relocated to Levant in November and the following week joined my sister, brother & sister-in-law for a fabulous week in Key West.
