Kent Winger, 67, formerly of Johnson City, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at his home in Aransas Pass, Texas.

He was born Dec. 27, 1944, in Garden City, to Frederick Dale and Wilma Nancy Jones Winger. He graduated from Manter High School in Manter.

A lifelong resident of Stanton County, Mr. Winger was a farmer. In November 2009, he moved to Aransas Pass. He served two years in the service.

Survivors include four children, Travis and Clayton Winger, both of Johnson City, Angie Moser of Syracuse, and Brenda Wilcox of Sublette; his mother, of Johnson City; two sisters, Nancy Ricker of Walsh, Colo., and Margaret Hook of Syracuse; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson City. Military graveside service will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson City.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson City. Memorials are suggested to the Stanton County Library, in care of the funeral home, Box 715, Johnson City, KS 67855.
