Richard Leland Shepherd, 63 of Arkansas City died, Monday, October 17, 2005 at the Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center in Ponca City. Funeral services are scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Pastor Norman Reeves will officiate. Cremation will follow.
Richard was born April 9, 1942 to Kenneth T. Shepherd and Lavena M. Miller Shepherd in Sterling, KS. He attended Manter High School graduating in 1960. Richard continued his education at Emporia State University where he received his bachelorÂ's degree in accounting. He was a coordinator for Farmland Industries and later began a company, The Boone Group, which dealt with grain elevators. Richard is survived by his brother, Charles E. Shepherd of Rowlette, TX; nephews, Richard Shepherd of Rowlette, TX, Michael Shepherd of Royce, TX and Marc Shepherd of Rowlette, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
