About	Manter, Kansas Albert J. Maris, 77, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at Homestead Health & Rehabilitation in Garden City. He was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Johnson City, to Albert James and Elma Marie Coleman Maris. He graduated from high school in Manter in 1958. A Garden City resident since 1984, formerly of Sublette, Mr. Maris worked as a truck driver throughout his entire life. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Benita L. Helzer in Dighton. She survives. Other survivors include four stepchildren, Bryan Gunther of Sterling, Marilyn Koehn of Newton, Faye Gunther of Constableville, N.Y., and Gail Murphy of Scott City; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold J. and Donald L. Maris. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. today at Church of Christ in Garden City. Burial will begin at 4 p.m. today at Lane County Cemetery, Dighton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Church of Christ, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N.
