About Manter, Kansas

James Alva Lashmet, 61, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at his home in Manter.

He was born Jan. 20, 1939, to Ross L. and Pauline (Ward) Lashmet in Diamond, Mo.

He was a longtime resident of Manter, where he attended the Manter Grade School and graduated from Manter High School. He was also a graduate of the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo.

He was employed for 25 years at Collingwood Grain in Manter and Big Bow. He was a member of the Johnson Falcons R/C Model Airplane Club in Johnson and the National Academy of Model Aeronautics.

Survivors include four brothers, John E. Lashmet, Johnson, Thomas H. Lashmet, Killen, Texas, Robert L. Lashmet, Alva, Mo., Paul Lashmet, Aurora, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.

* Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Johnson with the Rev. Bob Warner presiding. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery in Lakin.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
