Mary Lou Young, 89, died Sunday, July 16, 2023 at her home in Dodge City.

She was born March 12, 1934 at Cimarron, the daughter of Charles Edward and Luella (Feldman) McKee. She was a graduate of Manter High School and attended Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma. She worked at Emery Drug and the Coffee Cup Cafe in Johnson. She moved to Dodge City in 1981 and was a receptionist at Dodge City Community College until retiring. She also was a hostess at the Moose Lodge and was a babysitter.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose and Sweet Adeline's all in Dodge City.

On January 23, 1954 she married Marion "Arkie" Jacob Young at Clayton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2009.

Survivors include: her daughter, Karla (Young) Schwarz, Dodge City; 3 sons, Steve and wife Laureen, Falcon, Colorado, Glen "Animal", Dodge City and Kelly, Peoria, Arizona; Dodge City; 10 grandchildren, Leslie Schwarz and fiancé Rodney Boston, Brett Schwarz, Audra Sundberg, Jennifer Young, Amanda Guffey and wife Wrylie Guffey, Jori Weakley and husband Austin, Joel Young and wife Mallory, Monica Teeter and husband Levi, Brandon Martin and wife Tonda, and Colton Young and fiancé Caitlyn Craven; 19 great grandchildren, Kierra Holloman, Brooklyn and Brayden Sundberg, Cami Carter, Benjamin Looper, Jalynn, Ava and Morgan Weakley and LeAnn, Lila, Ashlyn, Sylvia, and Lakota Teeter, Taylin and Cayson Martin, Reid and Beck Young, Jace Craven and Harper Young; and her companion, Floyd Harding, Arlington, Texas.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son (Kenneth), 2 brothers (Kenneth and Walter McKee) and her dog Princess.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, July 24, 2023 at Dodge City Church of the Nazarene with Jeff Hiers officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 pm Monday at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson. Visitation will be Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.

The family suggests memorials to the Ford County Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
