About	Manter, Kansas Dwaine Eldon Newton, 79, departed this life on Dec. 7, 2009. He was born Nov. 12, 1930, in Belpre, to Elvie Luther and Marjorie May Huchstep Newton. He attended school in Manter and graduated from Manter High School in 1948. He retired as safety manager of Collingwood Grain after 27 years. He belonged to the Carey Park Golf Course and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, and was a former member of the Manter United Methodist Church, Manter. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953. On Jan. 16, 1955, he married Gay Hatton in Johnson. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Rick and wife Julie, Hutchinson, and Kyle and fiancée Tamra Colton, Hutchinson; a daughter, Melody Winter and husband Mike, Mount Hope; a sister, Evelyn Nichols, Hutchinson; five grandchildren, Alaina Newton, Oklahoma City, Elizabeth Newton-Lawrence, Melissa Newton, Denver, Kylie Newton and Kolby Newton, both of Hutchinson; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Issac and Aamar. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday Dec. 11, 2009, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodson presiding. Memorial interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 12, 2009, in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, with Pastor Don Hasty presiding.
