Marvin T. Herron, 81, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson City.

He was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Morton County, to Thomas J. and Minnie B. Haines Herron. He graduated from Manter High School.

A lifetime resident of Morton County, Mr. Herron farmed and raised cattle and sheep. He helped with supervising and the construction of Pleasant Plains School and served on the school board. He was a member of the Morton County Grazing Association and First Baptist Church of Johnson City, also serving as the church treasurer for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking, having made clocks for all of his children.

On Aug. 24, 1946, he married Ilene Ballinger in Garden City. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Barbara Hammond of Goodwell, Okla., Judy O'Bryan of Johnson City, and Linda Hammond of Garden City; a brother, Manford Herron of Manter; a sister, Wanda Batterton of Johnson City; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Curtis Herron; a grandson, Jared O'Bryan; a brother, Charles Herron; and a sister, Edith Breicheisen.

Funeral was at First Baptist Church in Johnson City. Burial was at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson City.
