| About | Manter, Kansas Funeral for Hugh S. Cott, 69, Dodge City, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Manter United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Keith Fink officiating. Burial will be in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, with rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3684 of Johnson and Corona Oddfellows Lodge No. 137 of Dodge City. Mr. Cott died Jan. 5, 1996, at the Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. Born Feb. 11, 1926, at Moscow, he was the son of Montgomery Wood and Lizzie Jane Gray Cott. In 1935 he moved from Stevens County to Stanton County and attended Manter schools. Mr. Cott, a carpenter, retired as a building trades instructor of USD No. 443, Dodge City, in 1985. He had lived in Dodge City since 1977, having lived in the Kansas City area from 1970 to 1977. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Corona Oddfellows Lodge No. 137, Veterans of Foreign Wars, all at Dodge City, was a committee member of the Dodge City Roundup, and had been a scout leader. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors are five daughters, Jerri Diane Strasser, Sharolyn Kay Viers and Mary Jane Rogers, all of Las Vegas, Freddi Louise Puhalski, Denver, and Brenda Jo Clatfelter, Omaha, Neb.; four sons, Hugh Francis Cott and Steven Ray Cott, both of Las Vegas, Travis Hugh Cott, Sublette, and Trenton Richard Cott, Dodge City; two sisters, Mary Cox, Cherokee, Okla., and June Bearce, Johnson; two brothers, Wood Cott, Manter, and Amos Cott, Garden City; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Tom Cott, Homer Cott and Boyd Cott, and a sister, May Graham. Visitation will be until 9 tonight at Kehr-Greene Funeral Home, Johnson.
