About	Manter, Kansas Kenneth Elbert Thayer, 77, of McCune died at 7:49 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 1998 at the Labette County Medical Center in Parsons after a short illness. Thayer was born to Elbert and Rose (Bennett) Thayer July 27, 1921, in Ransom. He attended school in Minor where he was raised. Mr. Thayer then lived in Wichita, where he worked as a security guard for the National Cash Register Co. for many years. He married Hattie Hammit, who preceded him in death. He married Agnes Harrell, who also preceded him in death. He married Helen Trent Jan. 13, 1995, in Miami, Okla. They lived in Forsyth until moving to McCune in July 1997. Mrs. Thayer survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Marsha Pace of Marshall, Mo., two sons, Brian of Topeka and Jeff of Zenda; five step-daughters, Iwana Kerwin of Forsyth, Phyllis Kuhn of Wichita, Linda Vest of Kansas City, Mo., Ramona Olson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Lisa Stepp of Forsyth; a stepson, Junior Davis of Norwood, Mo.; a stepsister, Laura Mae York of Oklahoma City; a stepbrother, Arden Beachel of Okmulgee, Okla.; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Edd Thayer. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the McCune Cemetery with the Rev. David Warren officiating.
