| About | Manter, Kansas Thomas "Leland" DeSelms formerly of Guymon passed away on Sept. 30, 2022, at the age of 93 at The Gardens of Aldersgate, Topeka, Kansas, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He now walks in glory with the Lord along with his beloved wife Juanita. Leland was born on Feb. 26, 1929, to Emery and Alta DeSelms in Stafford, Kansas. He joined siblings Lucille, Edna, Arthur, and Ralph and grew up on a farm near Manter, Kansas. He graduated from Manter High School in 1948 and married Juanita Driskill of Lamar, Colorado, in 1950. The couple farmed until Leland took a position at Cities Service Oil and Gas Co. in Greensburg, Kansas then several years later transferred to the Straight plant in the Oklahoma panhandle. He retired in the mid 1980's and moved to Guymon where the couple resided for many years until they moved to an assisted living facility in Mustang, Oklahoma. Leland later lived in a memory care facility in Topeka, Kansas, until his passing. Leland enjoyed gardening, westerns, big band and ragtime music, and most of all his family and friends. He was an avid reader and loved fishing. He and Juanita were active members of the Straight Christian Church for many years enjoying worship services and fellowship with the faithful community of believers. He is preceded in death by his wife Juanita; siblings Lucille Peterson, Edna Weaver Hudson, Arthur DeSelms, Ralph DeSelms, and baby sister Mary Alice DeSelms; parents Emery and Alta DeSelms, and most recently son-in-law Harvie Steinkuehler. He is survived by daughter Deanna Steinkuehler of Topeka, son Shane DeSelms and wife Mary of Mustang, daughter Karen Moran and husband Joe of Norman, as well as grandchildren Christopher Steinkuehler and wife Cherry of Topeka, Matt DeSelms and wife Amanda of Enid, Jennifer Gould and husband Sam of Topeka, Megan Lane and husband Spencer of Oklahoma City, J.J. Moran and wife Kimberly of Orlando, Florida, Katie Burkett and husband Travis of Oklahoma City, and Nathan Moran and wife Tiffany of Noble.
