Julia Hoopingarner, 86, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Baptist St. Anthony Hospital, Amarillo, Texas.

She was born Nov. 20, 1919, to Ralph and Vera Halderman at LaCygne, Kansas.

She married Dwight Hoopingarner on July 24, 1938, in Syracuse. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1990.

She enjoyed being married to a farmer, cooking and playing cards and felt blessed to be a part of the Hoopingarner family. She kept a detailed diary for many years. She and her husband retired in 1962 and moved to Las Vegas, where they enjoyed fishing and entertaining family and friends. She loved scrap booking for her grandchildren, working on puzzles and collecting quotes from numerous papers and books. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Disneyland and keeping them on New Year's Eve.

She and her husband moved back to Manter in 1985 due to health reasons.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Hoopingarner and wife, Connie, Eldon, Mo., and Frank Hoopingarner, Manter; one brother, Ed Haysenyager, Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, with the Rev. April Chlumsky presiding.
