Samantha Mendenhall, 86, passed away March 25, 2004.
Survived by her husband, Mark Mendenhall; children, Terry (Nelli) Mendenhall of Lenexa, Kan., and Janet (Robert) Hatton of Pueblo; siblings, Nonie Summer of Pueblo and Duane (Betty) Broyles of Los Lunas, N.M.; sister-in-law, Marian Putman of Pueblo; grandchildren, Phillip (Sara) Mendenhall, Heather, Amber and Joel Mendenhall and Kiera and Elizabeth Hatton; step-grandchild, Olga (Chauncy) Mahan; great-grandchild, Midori Hatton; numerous nieces and nephews. Samantha was born Feb. 21, 1918, in Bloom, Kan., to Mahala Lydia (nee Hall) and Walter H. Austin. She married Mark on Nov. 13, 1948, in Johnson, Kan.
Samantha was the first woman pharmacist in Pueblo. She worked at several pharmacies, retiring from St. Mary-Corwin Pharmacy. She loved antiquing and traveling and especially her family, children and extended family. Viewing, from 3 to 6 p.m. today, at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed at the service.
Funeral service, 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at First United Methodist Church, 11th and Court streets, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Calhoun officiating. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ARC of Pueblo through the funeral home.
