| About | Manter, Kansas Funeral for Elizabeth June Bearce, 85, a longtime Manter resident before moving to Johnson, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Manter United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Keith Fink officiating. Burial will follow in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson. Mrs. Bearce died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson. She was born June 12, 1913, in Stevens County, the daughter of M.W. and Lizzie Jane (Gray) Cott. On May 23, 1936, she married W.O. "Bill" Bearce at Liberal. Making their home west of Manter in 1936, they had farmed until moving to Johnson in 1984. He died Jan. 3, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lela Fay Bearce; four brothers; and one sister. A homemaker, Mrs. Bearce was a member of Manter United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Manter F.C.E., and Mothers Club and was a 4-H leader. She is survived by three sons, Vernon Bearce, Johnson, Dean Bearce, Manter, and Linnie Bearce, Forgan, Okla.; a daughter, Fern Noble, Liberal; a sister, Mary Cox, Cherokee, Okla.; two brothers, Amos Cott, Garden City, and Wood Cott, Manter; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home (formerly Figgins-Phillips Funeral Home) at Johnson.
