| About | Rosary for Roberto Sosa, 71, of Hugoton, will be 7 tonight at St. Helen Catholic Church, Hugoton. Liturgy of the Word service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Fred Gatschet officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery. Mr. Sosa died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born Jan. 4, 1930, at Wright, the son of Salvador and Juana (de Santigo) Sosa. He graduated from Garden City Community College and Wichita State University. A Hugoton resident since 1958, he was a speech therapist for the Hugoton School District. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Kansas Knights of Columbus third and fourth degree, Lions Club, Recreation Commission, Ministerial Alliance and the St. Catherine Hospital Hospice Board. He taught golf and archery in the summer to youth in Hugoton, and was a hunter education instructor. Mr. Sosa served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, held the rank of corporal, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award, Purple Heart and the Korean Distinguished Service Medal. In 1960, he married Glyndene Ray Zaloudek. She died in 1975. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Margaret Limon and Elvera Sosa. On June 23, 1979, he married Annette Meier at Hugoton. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Roberto Sosa II, Hugoton; two daughters, Allison Sosa and Elizabeth Sosa, both of the home; two brothers, John Sosa, Johnson, and Salvador Sosa, Liberal; two half brothers, John Sosa and Mark Sosa, both of Ulysses; two sisters, Josephine Taul, Ulysses, and Molly Herrin, Valley Station, Ky.; three half sisters, Stella Ibarra, Gloria Hernandez and Mita Franco, all of Ulysses; and two grandchildren. Visitation hours are until 5 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Hugoton. Memorials to the Bob Sosa Memorial Scholarship Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 423 S.
