About McKinney, Marvin Ray, 70, farmer and rancher, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001 at the Stanton County Hospital. He was born February 9, 1931, at Liberal, Kansas the son of Marlin and Georgia D. Stapleton McKinney. He was a graduate of the Johnson High School and attended Southwestern College at Winfield, Kansas. He was a farmer and rancher and stated farming with his dad in 1943, and ater 1950 he farmed his own ground. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Johnson, the Johnson Masonic Lodge #441, Sons of The American Revolution of New Mexico, a past Cub Master and Assistant Scout Master, and a private pilot.

Service 10 a.m. Thursday, First United Methodist Church.

On August 6 1950 he married Oreta A. Newby at Mt. Hope, Kansas.

Survivors: wife, Oreta; son, Brad of Manter; daughter, Tamara Smith of Hasty, Colo.; mother, George of Johnson; sisters, Wanda Lee Dorsey of Anchorage, Alaska, Ila June Ellis of Wamsutter, Wyo.; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren.

Memorials established with Boy Scout Troop No. 145 and Stanton County Hospital.
