John-Juan D. Sosa, 76, died Dec. 20, 2003, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, Ulysses. He was born Dec. 8, 1927, at Spearville, the son of Salvador De La Rosa and Juana De Santiago Sosa.
He was a 1947 graduate of Stanton County High School, Johnson. A resident of Johnson since 1941, he worked at Johnson Co-op as a butcher, grocery store manager and manger of the filling station. He belonged to St. Bernadette Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
On Aug. 18, 1948, he married Juanita P. Kippes at Ulysses. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jon, Liberal; a daughter, Jeri Feltz, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Salvador, Liberal; two sisters, Josephine Taul, Ulysses, and Mollie Herron, Valley Station, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: a brother, Roberto; a half-brother, Pedro Diaz; two sisters, Elvira Sosa and Margaret Limon; and several other brothers and sisters before moving to the U.S.
Vigil service and rosary will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Johnson. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ulysses, with the Rev. Jim Dieker presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson. Burial will follow funeral Wednesday in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson.
Memorials may be sent to Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, Ulysses, or the American Heart Association, both in care of the funeral home.
