| About | Geraldine Anita (Farrar) McFadden, age 91, passed away into the loving arms of the Lord in Temple, Texas on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. She was born on July 15, 1929 in Johnson, Kansas, the daughter of Everett and Alice Farrar. Jerry, as she was known to most, attended Johnson High School and graduated in 1947. She went on to further her education in Hutchinson, Kansas earning her Associate Degree in Nursing. Later in her nursing career she received her Bachelor’s Degree and Masters Degree in Nursing Administration. While in Hutchinson, she met the love of her life, Charles McFadden and they were married in 1950. To this union four children were born, Scott, Charrie, Chuck, and Jan. They later moved to Syracuse, Kansas where they worked for the Cory Funeral Home until they purchased it from Cory. In the early 1960’s, Chuck and Jerry built The McFadden Funeral Home and operated it until 1979. Jerry served as a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing for the Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse and St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. In 1979, Chuck and Jerry moved to Temple, Texas where Jerry was Vice President and Director of Nursing at the Kings Daughters Hospital. She also held the 22nd President of the Texas Organization of Nurse Executives. Along with God, music guided her life and she instilled this love of music in all of her family. Jerry loved unconditionally, and having the character of patience, grace and dignity. Everyone who met her was touched by her grace and love. Jerry enjoyed living and working wherever she was at and serving her love and passion to everyone. She retired in 1994 in Temple, Texas and resided there until her passing. Jerry was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Nursing Association, and retained a Funeral Directors License. She enjoyed gardening, working on family genealogy, enjoyed all kinds of music, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Graveside Memorial Services will be held onFriday, March 12, 2021at 11:00 AM (MST) at the Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse, Kansas. Reception to follow at the First United Methodist Church.
