About	Lois 'Laddie' Arlene Davis Services will be Monday for Lois 'Laddie' Arlene Davis, who died March 4th at her Santa Cruz home. She was 80. Born in Greensburg, Kan., she had lived in Santa Cruz since 1999. At age 18, she taught school in Kansas for three years. Moving to Santa Clara County in 1950, she was employed at several defense plants, ending her career after 30 years at Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale. She retired in 1989. She then returned to college. At age 70, she earned an associate's degree in liberal arts, with honors, from De Anza College in Cupertino. She won awards for her poetry and was published several times in poetry magazines. She was a lifetime member of Rebekah Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, clay work, baking, painting, sketching, theater-going and music. She wrote her own obituary and included this note: 'Do not use any of those euphemisms so common in printed notices such as passed away. I would like plain language to describe my death.' She is survived by sons John Hopkins and Tom Davis; daughters Laura Davis, Sally Munde and Kelly Gibson; brother Loren Puyear of Colorado; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Her husband, John McKirahan, died in 2006 and her sister Linda Puyear also died previously. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz.
