| About | Mary Jane "Janie" Riggs, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 7, 2022, after a long illness. She was born in Belpre, Kansas on April 24, 1927. She grew up near Johnson, Kansas and graduated from Stanton County Community High School in 1944. After graduation, she attended Bethany Peniel College in Bethany, Oklahoma, where she received a Certificate in Voice. It was during her college years that she met the love of her life, Wilburn Thomas "Jack" Riggs. They married on August 31, 1947, and raised two daughters, Sandy and Shirley. Once the 'girls' were in school, she worked several years for the Putnam City School System as a cafeteria manager. It was a profession she took great pride in. Her interests were many and included traveling, cooking, reading, and fishing. She also was an avid fan of Southern Nazarene University basketball and a member of the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and, most of all, was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Badger and Shirley Evans and her husband Joe; five grandchildren, Tommy Badger and Tammy McManis and her husband Robert; Weston, Clayton, and Trenton Evans; and four great grandchildren, Chase, Mackenzie, Reese, and Connor McManis. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service on Sunday, September 11 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm with family present from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 12 in the Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment at Bethany Cemetery.
