Bernita Joyce Walker, 77, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson City.
She was born Dec. 7, 1925, at Johnson City, to William Wesley and Ruth Lynette Cockreham Felts. In 1943, she graduated from Stanton County High School in Johnson City.
On April 1, 1945, she married Forrest Lavere Walker at Johnson City.
A homemaker and farm wife, Mrs. Walker was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Johnson City, was Past Noble Grand and Grand Patriarch of Rebekah Lodge, and belonged to the Futorum Club, where she was a charter member and the first president.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Forrest Lynn Walker of Hesston, Larry Carl Walker of Buena Vista, Colo., and Lonnie Joe Walker of Manter; a sister, Carol Clark of Sarasota, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, William Wesley Felts Jr. and Larry Keith Felts.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Johnson City, with the Rev. Glenn Fogo officiating. Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson City.
Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Stanton County Long Term Care Unit or the church, both in care of the funeral home, 605 W. North Ave., Johnson City, KS 67855.
