Leona Della Harmon, 83, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Western Prairie Care Home, Ulysses.

She was born July 20, 1923, at Bucklin to Leslie and Isabelle (Birchfield) VanVoorhis and was raised by Wade (20820657) and Mary Smoot (20820654). She married Clifford Harmon on Nov. 1, 1945, in Dodge City. He preceded her in death Feb. 3, 2007.

She graduated from Johnson High School in 1942 and then became a cosmetologist. She also helped with the family farm's books.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Manter, and the Rebecca Lodge. She enjoyed traveling and square dancing.

Survivors include four daughters, Judy Moore, Arizona, Jewell Larson, Woodland Park, Colo., Mary Sue Romero, Eloy, Ariz., and Bobbie Toole, Manter; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her foster parents; two brothers, Merle E. VanVoorhis and Earl H. VanVoorhis; a sister, Dorothy Milburn; and a stepbrother, Roland Saylor.

A graveside service and inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, with the Rev. April Chlumsky presiding.
