About Jacqueline Roche, age 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, in Idaho Falls.

She was born September 8, 1923, to Luther and Helen Priest in Ulysses, Kansas. Due to her mother’s death before she was 2, she was raised in Johnson, Kansas, by her paternal grandparents , Luella and Herman Tucker, along with their other children, Wilma, H.L. and Wendell , who Jackie considered her sister and brothers. Her father later remarried and had two other children, Warren and Glenda.

After graduating from high school, Jackie moved to Denver, where she worked as a secretary for a trucking company.

There she met her future husband, Arlow Roche, who was a long-haul truck driver from Pocatello. They were married in Johnson, Kansas, on September 9, 1951, and resided in Pocatello throughout their marriage.

Jackie and Arlow had four children, Brent, Kent, Marcia and Raydene.

Jackie was also stepmother to Arlow’s two children from his first marriage, Marlowe and Norman from Colorado.

She was a homemaker while her children were young and then worked as a secretary for about 20 years at Garrett Freightlines/ANR’s general office , retiring in 1986. Arlow died in 1971.

She was a devoted wife and mother, doting grandmother and gracious host of many family gatherings. Her life was enriched by many friendships, including those with neighbors, co-workers and church members. Until her health began failing she could be counted on to help others through her efforts in church and civic organizations.

Her hobbies and interests have included playing cards, bowling, reading, gardening, attending school and athletic functions involving her children and grandchildren, and corresponding with her extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Wilma; brothers, H.L, Wendell and Warren; stepdaughter, Marlowe ; and granddaughter, Julie.

She is survived by sister, Glenda Hill of Limon, Colorado; sisters-in-law , Ethel Floyd of Hayesville, Kansas, Kay Priest of Lawrence, Kansas, and Georgia Roche of Boise; children, Brent (Jan), Kent (Brenda), Marcia (Daniel Williams) and Raydene (Doug Parker); stepson , Norman Roche (Carolyn) of Pueblo, Colorado; 11 grandchildren ; 12 great-grandchildren ; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
