| About | Thomas R. Winger, 77, Johnson, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at the Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson. Mr. Winger was born Oct. 24, 1923, at Syracuse, the son of Chas R. and Vivian DeEtta (Moore) Winger. He was a farmer and instructor of automotive and diesel mechanics. He left the farm in 1964, and attented Denver Auto Tech to refine his mechanical skills. He was instrumental in starting the diesel mechanics classes at the Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyo. He also was a veteran of WWII and was involved in the reoccupation of the Philippines. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and loved the great Wyoming outdoors. He hunted and fished for many years. Thomas married Mary Ellen Oshel in Dodge City in 1947. They divorced. In 1974, he married Agnes in Denver. They divorced. Survivors include: two sons, Ron of Riverton, Wyo., and John of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Kathy Shaulis of Casper, Wyo.; a brother, Dick of Johnson; two sisters, June Glanz of Clarkston, Wash., and Helen May of Protection; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and a son-in-law. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church, Johnson, with the Rev. Dave Kaufmann officiating. The family request memorials be given to benefit student scholarships at the Wyoming Technical Institute through WTI Foundation, P.O.
