| About | Herman Lawrence (H.L.) Tucker Jr., 82, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005 at Hillsboro Community Care Center, Hillsboro. He was born Nov. 18, 1922 at Johnson to Herman Lawrence Sr. and Luella (Warren) Tucker. On May 4, 1944 he married Ruby J. Oser at Great Bend. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2004. He grew up in Johnson and attended Johnson Grade School and graduated from Johnson High School in 1940. He then served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy Air Corp. from 1942- 1945. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Johnson Rotary, Come and Join Us Sunday School Class, Men's Breakfast Group and was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #145. He was owner-operator of Seyb-Tucker Lumber and Implement, Johnson. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Farrell and husband Mike, Newton and Nancy Nicholas and husband Wendell, Johnson; one son, Tom Tucker and wife Dawn, Holcomb; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughters, Constance Jean; brother, Wendell Tucker and sister, Wilma Fiss Cockeham. The funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Johnson with Rev. Glenn Fogo presiding. Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery with Military Rites by V.F.W. Post #3684. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson.
