About Willa Kathleen Cott, 89, of Garden City, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Homestead Health and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City.

She was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Reno County, near Abbyville, to Orville T. and Wilma K. King Barber. She graduated from Stanton County High School in 1940.

On July 27, 1947, she married Amos Cott in Ulysses. They moved to the Plymell community in Finney County in 1959 and moved to Garden City in 1964. She worked as a cook in various places throughout Garden City, including 26 years at Terrace Garden Care Center.

Her husband died Oct. 19, 2009. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rodney Cott; and four brothers, Edward, Kenneth, Fay and Gail Barber.

Survivors include two daughters, LaDonna Eshnaur of Norwich, and Venita Cott of Garden City; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Garden City Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson City.

Visitation hours are 1 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, with the family visiting with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be e-mailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net.
