| About | Evelyn lived in Stanton County her entire life. She attended Colorado Women's College in Denver and Long Beach, California. She then taught school in the Sherwood, Lone Star and Johnson schools all in Stanton County. On June 14,1942 she married Robert Dillard (R.D.) Floyd in long Beach California. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2005. Evelyn was a homemaker and avid gardener all of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, The Rebekha Lodge, the cosmos club, and the Pleasant Hour Club. She also served on the Kansas Bank Corporation Board and was a 4-H leader for the Sunflower Club for over 10 years. Survivors include: 2 Sons Martie Floyd and wife Diane, Gary Floyd and wife Marla all of Johnson, Kansas. 1 Daughter: Roetta Mann and husband Dave of Quinter, Kansas; 8 granchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by 2 Brothers: Melvin Winger of Johnson and Marion Winger of Yuma, Colorado, and many other family and friends. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by infant brothers, Charles Merlin Winger and Elmer Lewis Winger. (Obit: Garnand Funeral Home)  |
