About Norman "Lynn" Noble passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, after a short illness. He was born March 31, 1918, in Johnson, Kansas. His parents were Margaret Catherine Williamson and Hartwell John Noble. Lynn graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in civil engineering in 1942, and joined the U.S. Army in 1944. He was a part of the Civil Engineering corp that rebuilt Europe. After being discharged from the Army in 1946, he married Virginia McRae on July 12, 1947, in Metropolitan United Methodist Church, in Detroit, Michigan. He worked as a civil engineer for over 40 years, in various states and retired from City Utilities of Springfield in 1988. At the time of his death, he was a faithful member of King's Way United Methodist Church in Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Catherine Noble. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Virginia Noble; his daughter, Marge Johnson and husband, Jim of Oldfield, Missouri; his daughter, Andrea Noble-Buddette and husband, Jim of Ozark, Missouri, Diane Ritchie and husband, Bill of Mentor on the Lake, Ohio; his grandchildren, Thaddeus White of Springfield, Missouri, Jennifer Johnston of Sparta, Missouri, Jason Johnston of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jennifer Ritchie of Houston, Texas; and his great-grandson, Gavin James. He was a loving husband and father who will be sorely missed. No visitation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2008, in King's Way United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions are suggested in lieu of flowers, to King's Way United Methodist Church Children's Wing Fund, or a charity of the donor's choice.
