Howard C. Kile, 83, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at The Groves in Independence.

Mr. Kile was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Dane, Okla., and had lived in Independence since the early 1960s. He had also lived in Liberal, Kan., and in Osceola, Mo. He had been a coal miner in Alaska before working in maintenance at the RLDS Auditorium for the past 30 years. He had been a member of the RLDS Stone Church and Walnut Park RLDS Church. He was an Army and Navy veteran.

His survivors include his wife, Bertha Agnes Kile of Independence; a stepson, Stephen I. Gunlock, Blue Springs; a daughter-in-law, Paula R. Gunlock, Blue Springs; three grandsons, Stephen J. Gunlock, Odessa, and Aaron G. Gunlock and Jason C. Gunlock, both of Blue Springs; a granddaughter, Shawn M. Sauer, Kansas City North; and one great-grandchild.

According to the familys wishes, the body of Mr. Kile was donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center. There will be a memorial service at The Groves in January.
