About Funeral for Bertha B. Jones, 83, of Johnson, will be 2 p.m. Friday in the gymnasium at Big Bow Grade School, Big Bow, with the Rev. Sonny Hart officiating. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses.
Mrs. Jones died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at Ulysses, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident, which also claimed the life of her husband.
She was born Feb. 16, 1916, at Wellsford, the daughter of Ernest Lawrence and Della Evelyn (Robertson) Harbison. When she was a teen-ager, the family moved to Big Bow. She graduated from Stanton County High School in Johnson.
On March 7, 1935, she married Roger C. Jones at Big Bow.
A homemaker, she was a certified emergency medical technician; a certified doll doctor, having repaired more than 200 dolls each year; was a member of the Wesleyan Church of Big Bow where she served as Sunday school teacher, church secretary and board member; and also belonged to the Ladies Farm Bureau.
She is survived by three daughters, Roberta Ridgway, Langley, Okla., Clarice Lipinski, New York City, and Mary Moore, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother, Wesley Harbison, Muskogee, Okla.; a sister, Dottie Minger, Talent, Ore.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, John Roger Jones, in 1973; and by eight siblings.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Native American Missions, in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.
