John G. Shore, 66, died Wednesday at Stanton County Hospital, Johnson. after a long illness. He was a farmer-stockman and longtime resident of the area.
Born Aug. 30, 1914, in Lake City. He married Ione Herrick, June 2, 1935, in Stanton County.
Mr. Shore was a member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Southwest Kansas Irrigation Assn., Kansas Taxpayers Federation, Stanton County Republican Central Committee, and a charter member and past president of Flying Farmers.
Survivors are his wife, of the home; three sons, Eugene Shore and Harold Shore, both of Johnson, and Glen Shore, Wichita; a daughter, Mrs. Carmen Urwiller, Ravenna, Neb.; two brothers, Harold Shore, Meade, and Carl Shore, Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters. Mrs. Mildred Jacobs, Zenda, Mrs. Margaret Pearce, Bethany, Okla., and Mrs. Marion Snyder, Shawnee Mission, and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, the Rev Herbert Merritt officiating. Burial in the Johnson Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 p. m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Mortuary, Ulysses.
