09 April 2003 obituary, The Pantagraph, Wednesday, page A9: Ethel L. Hoerner, Pontiac. Ethel L. Hoerner, 89, a resident of ASTA Care of Pontiac since 1999, died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday (April 8, 2003) at ASTA Care Center of Pontiac. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church, Pontiac, the Rev. Kathy Frus officiating. Burial will be at Earp Cemetery, rural Graymont. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac.
Mrs. Hoerner was born Nov. 17, 1913, at Gardner, a daughter of Benjamin W. and Bertha Doud Mason. She married Arthur Carlson on Oct. 12, 1945, at Pontiac. He died June 8, 1974. She later married Harley Hoerner on July 26, 1979, at Pontiac. He died Dec. 11, 2001. Surviving are two stepsons, David J. (Paula) Hoerner and William H. Hoerner, both of Chenoa; three step grandchildren, Melissa, Daniel and Rebecca Hoerner, Chenoa; and one sister, Alice C. O'Shea, Urbana. Mrs. Hoerner was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. She owned LaDonna Beauty Shop in Pontiac for many years. Mrs. Hoerner was a member of First Christian Church, Pontiac. She was the founder of the AARP Chapter in Pontiac, volunteered for several community activities and was educated in Gardner schools.
