Events | He graduated from Johnson High School in 1955 and attended Garden City Community College. He also took correspondence classes through Oklahoma University. He entered the Navy in 1955, completing his tour of duty in 1959. He married Mary Jane Cox in 1960, in Johnson. They later divorced. In 1990, he married Shirley Wallace in Enid. She preceded him in death. He moved to Enid in 1964, where he was a printer for Enid Publishing Co. He was the assistant composing room foreman, president of Enid Typographical Union for more than 30 years, president of Oklahoma State Typographical Conference, Oklahoma Typographical Conference Printer of the Year, retiring in 1997. He often was called upon to interpret for the deaf by the police department. He was a charter member of the Interpreter and Newsletter editor, Deaf Lions Club of Enid, District 3-A Lion of the Year, past Oklahoma State Lions Public Relations Chairman, charter member and newsletter editor, belonged to Plains Folk Musicians Association, past Moose Lodge newsletter editor. He was a free-lance writer and wrote "A Slanted Viewpoint" for the Enid Newspaper. He was active with the Enid Trail Blazers Band, playing guitar, including acoustic, electric, steel, and also played the harmonica. |
