Events | Lois Christena (McGehee) Barber, 83, of Caldwell, left her earthly home May 22, 2015 with family by her bedside. She passed away at a local care facility in Nampa. A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 30th at the Nampa First Church of Nazarene, 601 16th. Ave. So. in Nampa. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. in Nampa. 442-8171. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com. Lois was born in Johnson, Kansas March 15, 1932 to Earl and Faye (Scott) McGehee. Lois married Norville Barber March 2, 1952 in Johnson, Kansas. They were blessed with three children; Bryant, Vicki and Kevin. Lois was a loving, kind, generous and talented woman. She had an extra special love for children. As her children were growing up, she cared for other children during the day, and was Norville's assistant in the Barber's Dairy Supply Business. Lois was known for her Creations of Love, making beautiful wedding, anniversary and birthday cakes. Lois was a very loving woman, giving hugs and telling you that she loved you with her beautiful smile. Lois was a member of Nampa First Church of the Nazarene. Lois is survived by her children, Bryant and RayLee Barber, Vicki and Russ Elsberry and Kevin and Tonya Barber; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild due in August; a brother, Keith and Delores McGehee; a sister, Tamera 'Tammy" (McGehee) Hall (Gary); numerous nieces and nephews, and a number of adopted children they were grandparents to in the churches they attended. She was preceded in death by her husband Norville in 2007; brothers, Jack McGehee and Frank McGehee; sister, Carolyn Mae McGehee and parents. We want to thank the caregivers at Brookstone Village, Streamside and Harrison Hope-United Hospice that assisted Lois during her illness. The family suggest memorials be made to Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, 601 16th Ave. S. Nampa, ID 83651 or to Alzheimer's Association, 6126 W. State St. #406, Boise, Idaho 83703. |
