Events Orin Grant Florence, Sr. passed away February 13, 2025, at the Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune, Kansas. He was the son of Ernest Miles Florence and Cecil Dale (Hill) Florence. He was born July 7, 1942 in Hugoton, Kansas.

Orin began his life in Hugoton and grew up in Johnson, Kansas. He attended Stanton County High School and graduated in 1960. In Johnson, he worked as a dispatcher for the Stanton County Sheriff's Office and was also a city employee.

On August 22, 1968, he married Beryl Marie Brasher in Johnson, and he later moved with his family to Syracuse in 1970 where he managed the Conoco Service Station. Orin is the father of six children, Orin Grant Jr., Melissa, Shelly, Tammy, Michelle and Marsha. In 1973, he began working for John Deere at R & H Implement where he was a mechanic and also in sales. He enjoyed living in Syracuse and resided there until his passing.

He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Johnson, member of the NRA, and was a Republican Committeeman. He owned a racecar in the 70s, his son Grant owns a racecar, and he always enjoyed going to the races with him and working on the racecar. He loved yard work and his pet dogs, as a mechanic he loved to fix things, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Miles Florence, his mother, Cecil Dale (Hill) Florence, his brother, James Harper, his daughter, Michelle Florence, and his great grandchild, Kerra Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Beryl Marie (Brasher) Florence of Syracuse, KS, his son, Orin Grant Florence, Jr. of Ulysses, KS, four daughters: Melissa Elder of Olathe, KS; Shelly (& husband Bill) Wilson of Scotts Bluff- Minatare, NE; Tammy (& husband Jeff) Munsch of Colorado Springs, CO; and Marsha Florence of Syracuse, KS; eleven grandchildren, Joel & Jeremy Oziah; Lewis, Trinity, & Remi Elder; Mandy Welsh; Aaron & Abby Wilson; Isaak & Avery (Munsch) Rogers; Colby Florence; and sixteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM (MST) at the Wesleyan Church in Syracuse, KS. Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse, KS.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM (MST) at the Fellers Funeral Home LLC in Syracuse, KS .
