Events Juanita Mae Austin, 76, passed away May 17, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Laverne, Okla., to Virgil Ray and Gertrude (Smoot) McGowen.

Juanita was a proud mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be sorely missed.

In 1958, she graduated with a Diploma of Nursing from Grace Hospital in Hutchinson, Kan., where she worked as a Registered Nurse in Obstetrics until 1967. After moving with her family to Wyoming, she continued her work in Obstetrics at Natrona County Memorial Hospital in Casper, Wyo. Later after moving to Bairoil, Wyo., she served as a volunteer EMT. She served with pride, and provided loving care to those in need.

Married on July 3, 1960, to Marvin Austin, they shared their lives for nearly 46 years, lovingly raising their three children, and looking after and often spoiling their six grandsons.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ellsworth and husband Bill of Evanston, Wyo.; her sons, Brian Austin and wife Karen of Gillette, Wyo., and John Austin and wife Liesa of Castle Rock, Colo.; her grandsons, Seth Ellsworth of Laramie, Wyo., Eric Ellsworth of Austin, Texas, Stephen Austin of Seattle, Wash., Jeffrey Austin of Sheridan, Wyo., Ty and Jake Austin of Castle Rock, Colo. She is also survived by her two brothers, Duane McGowen of Hutchinson, Kan., M. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; two brothers, Raymond and Vernon McGowen; two sisters, Yvonne Foster and Patricia McGowen; and numerous other relatives. The world was a better place with her in it, and while her light has gone out, she will shine in our hearts forever.
