Events	Terri Sue Ashida-Fields, 53, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 25, 2017 at her home. Born August 25, 1963 in Johnson, Kansas, she was the daughter of Sam and Lila (Jiron) Ashida. She was raised and received her education in Johnson and was Valedictorian of her 1981 graduating class at Stanton County High. She later received her Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology at Fort Hays State University. Terri worked at the Johnson State Bank and helped with her dad’s farm when she was younger. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Fields on June 16, 1990. The couple made their first home in Greensburg and moved to Winfield in 2000. Terri taught different subjects and coached in various schools. She most recently worked as a Physical Education Teacher at Lowell Elementary in Winfield. She loved teaching and her students. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the KNEA, as well as was on the Human Relations Board for the City of Winfield. She enjoyed reading James Patterson, walking with friends, bargain hunting, going to Rick Springfield concerts and going to basketball games. She especially loved her family and often travelled across the country just to see them for a day or two. Her family includes: Her husband: Rob Fields of Winfield; Her daughter: Samara Tarkington and husband, Chris of Midwest City, OK; Her son: Connor Fields of Winfield; Her step-daughter: Misti Fields and fiancé, Dan Danzy of Dallas, TX; Her step-son: Robbie Fields and wife, Jennifer of Roy, WA; Her sisters: Lori Ashida of Las Cruces, NM; Debbie Ashida of Las Cruces, NM; Susan Ashida-Anderson and husband, Jerry of Johnson; Her grandchildren: Mercedes, Alexis, Gabriel and Mackenzie; and Numerous nieces and nephews: Kenneth Butler, Sam Ashida-Butler, Brandon Ashida-Schwisow, Samantha Ashida-Schwisow, Dillon Ashida-Schwisow, Ethan Ashida-Anderson, Lila Ashida-Schwisow. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Name Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at Miles Funeral Service on Monday afternoon from 2 to 5 P.M. and the Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. that evening at Holy Name Catholic Church. A visitation will take place from 12 to 2 P.M. on Wednesday, February 1, at St. Bernadette Parish in Johnson, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson. Memorials have been established in Terri’s name for the USD 465 Foundation and the William Newton Healthcare Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
