| Events | Thompson, Donnell 9/1/1935 - 9/17/2019 Grand Rapids Donnell Floyd Thompson age 84, passed away Sept 17th, 2019 in Grand Rapids, Michigan after battling lung cancer. He was born Sept 1st, 1935 in Stonington, Colorado the son of John and Mabel (Evans) Thompson. Don Graduated in 1955 from Johnson High School in Johnson City, Kansas. He served in the United States Navy on board the Aircraft Carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. Don worked for many years as a carpet installer until his retirement. His interest included assisting his kids with home improvement projects, woodworking, gardening, golf (including a hole in one) and rooting for the Michigan State Spartans. His sense of humor, funny stories and jokes will be missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith Schwaiger Thompson. He is survived by his children Martin (Alice), Greg (Vicki), Kristen (Ken), Doug (Sarah), step children Amy (Paul), Kurt (Sheri), Scott (Elaine), Julie, Lori (Mick), 12 Grandchildren, and 2 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his Brother John Thompson, Sister Velda Dickson Dotterer and many Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends at the Ofield funeral home 4500 Kalamazoo Ave S.E.
