Sally G. Peterson, 46, died Oct. 15, 1999, at Johnson. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at the First United Methodist Church, Johnson, with the Rev. Glenn Fogo officiating. Burial will be at Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson.
Mrs. Peterson was born Oct. 1, 1953, in Ulysses, the daughter of Melvin and Mona (Edmisson) Winger. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Johnson and its Joyful Noise bell choir, director of Ground Water Management District No. 3, a representative on the Kansas State Corn Commission, KARL Class 4 member, director of the board of the First National Bank of Elkhart, council member of St. Paul School of Theology, youth group leader for many years, owner and operator of Unique Flowers and Gifts in Johnson, manager and partner of Winger Farms and a working companion alongside her father, Melvin Winger.
On Dec. 22, 1971, she married Mike Peterson in Lawrence. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Brant Peterson, Johnson, and Brian Peterson, Hays; her parents of Johnson; a brother, Dr. Raymond Winger of Hutchinson; a sister, Melva Jo Winger de Rondon of Denver; one grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Winger.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson. The family requests memorials to be given to the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, in care of the funeral home.
