| About Me | Mainly worked in shipyards until drafted into Marine Corps during WWII. Afterward, colleges, marriage, had first of five children, various jobs. Then, with wife, had a cafe, 1952-54. Began involvement in politics. Divorce, third child and first newspaper job in 1954, Second marriage, 1958; 4th child, 1961. Left Oakland Tribune, went to S.F. Chronicle, stayed 1968.-1990.
