About	Marianka (Marina) Gross Linneberg worked as a flight attendant for Lufhansa for many years. She held German and American citizenship. In the late 1980's she moved back to Germany and married her childhood sweetheart, Jann Linneberg. They lived on the north coast of Germany in a small village, Bensersiel. She died in 2005 after a long struggle with leukemia.

Marina and her mother came to live with my family in 1962, when I was 16 and she was 15. She became the sister than I never had before and the daughter to my father that he had always wanted. She was sweet, kind and always cheerful. When I went off to college in 1964 she continued to live with my mother until she graduated in June, 1966. She suffered for many years with leukemia, in and out of hospitals and in and out of pain. In spite of all this she wrote me many letters, always trying to find something funny to relate about her illness. I last saw her in the hospital in Germany in May, 2000. She cried and hugged me and thanked me for coming to see her. We continued to communicate, but that was the last time I saw her.
