This gorgeous, historic castle was my high school, hard to believe. At the time I was going to school there, I didn’t fully appreciate its architectural majesty and location. It’s been the site of many movies as a back drop or cameo shot for a feeling of a different time and place. Ten things I hate about you, of course, but I am certain it is the model for a recent Cinderella Movie and others. When I attended, I made daily walks down to the Tacoma Town Hall where they had restaurants and little retail shops.
The view from the bay is equally stunning. Few may realize this grand lady was built as a hotel to serve on the railway line. But as time went on and rail travel merged into faster options, the building was abandoned as a hotel and transformed into a school. I am a school nurse in Federal Way and can tell you, most schools definitely do not look like this! Stadium is a place I am proud to call my high school home and alma mater, and it will remain a proud feature for Tacomans for years to come.
