| About | Ann and I became friends in February 1957 when I moved in at 2442 Flag Ave and Ann lived at 2430. We grew up together, played together, challenged each other, competed with each other in almost everything and stayed in contact. The first thing I noticed with Ann was her smile which at times was broad and full of life and some times guarded. As life requires we both went our separate ways after high school but stayed in touch from time to time. Ann married David Gilbert, moved south and raised two sons. Ann became a registered nurse and loved the service of others. She loved the ICU and was extremely proud of how few of her patients that she lost. Having divorced she moved north and eventually met Gerald Hummel and remarried. His children became the focus of her life and they loved her. About one year ago Ann and I reconnected again and spent many late hours sharing life experiences. Ann did not sleep nights and one could always count on Ann to be available for a chat. Ann was a strong believer in health and homeopathic medicine. Her previous cardiac issues had resulted in the placement of three stents. She began to experience continued cardiac issues. Ann and I had the chance to bring closure to life that she lived on her terms. My last contact was an email to Ann on 6/25/2020. I was checking for a reply when I received the news of her passing from her step daughter Abbie. I attended her celebration of life on July 2, 2020 and reconnected with her brothers Dick and Jack. I remember Ann very well. She was a very sweet person. We went all through elementary all the way through graduation. She will be missed.
