1994 St.Elmo ring. Blue stone. Eagle on one side. Softball on the other.

a few years ago, while metal detecting at Rock Creek , (between Newton & Grinnell, Iowa) I found a St. Elmo High School ring from 1926. Inside are the intials RLT. I wrote to the Chamber of Commerce & got a reply, but I can't find the letter. This persons relative was living in Newton, Ia. at the time, I was told.
Can someone help me put the puzzle together, as I would love to return the ring to a relative. Thank you so much
