About Richard John Kost, age 66, of St. Cloud, passed away at the VA Medical
Center in St. Cloud on Thursday, June 19, 2014. Visitation will be on
Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in
St. Cloud, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm, with parish prayers at 4:00pm and
continue one hour prior to mass at church on Wednesday. Mass of
Christian Burial will be at 10:30am, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St.
Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Rev. Jeremy Ploof will officiate and
burial will be at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls with full
military honors.

Richard was born March 20, 1948 to Urban and Lillian (Knese) Kost in St.
Cloud, MN. He graduated from Technical High School in 1967. Richard
went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam
era. Richard married Marilyn Barbarossa on June 6, 1981, at Redeemer
Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. As a lifelong resident of St. Cloud, Richard
worked at Fingerhut and Ground Round Restaurant for many years, and was
a member at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. Richard was very proud of his
military service, always attending the Memorial Day service and other
patriotic events. Richard enjoyed attending live music and Concerts,
especially the Holly Ball. He also enjoyed spending time at St. Cloud Public Library. Before Richard’s passing he and Marilyn celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary. They were
constant companions and she was truly the love of his life.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Marilyn, of St. Cloud; sister, Joyce (John) Anderson of Prior Lake; mother-in-law, Dolores Barbarossa-Krafnick of St. Cloud; sister-in-law,
Lana Barbarossa of Minneapolis; brother-in-law, Randy (Diane) Barbarossa of Sartell; aunt and uncles-in-law, Carol Durand of Sartell, Marv (Jan) Neubert of Sauk Rapids, John “Jake” Neubert of St. Cloud; niece, Gina Barbarossa of Sartell; nephew, Jeff (Melanie) Anderson and their children Peter, Heidi and Charles, all of San Mateo, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Clemens Kost and father-in-law, Ralph Krafnick.

Richard’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff of Building 50, 1st Floor, of the St. Cloud Veteran’s Hospital. Our special “Thank You’s” to Cheri, Ellie and Shiloh for their love and concern.
