About Death of Jim Wheeler Ruled Accidental
A coroner’s jury on Tuesday morning ruled the death of Jim Wheeler at Moline Malleable Iron Co. as accidental death.

Jim, also had attended Purdue University last year on a scholarship was working during the summer at Moline in their maintenance department. He was conducting a routine minor overhaul on a portable lift truck which was supported on wood blocks and hydraulic jacks.
While no one actually saw the accident evidence indicated one of the jacks slipped knocking over the wood blocks and inflicting injuries resulting in immediate death.
Jim's death came as a shock to his very many friends in the community where he was well known and liked by all.
Wheeler, 19, resides at 717 South Fifth St. He was born July 10, 1942 in St. Charles and had completed one year of college at Purdue University.
He is survived by his mother, Doris and two brothers; Peter and Ray. His paternal grandparent is Mrs. Bertha K. Wheeler and his maternal grandparent Mrs. Amelia Christensen, both of St. Charles.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at the Norris Funeral Home with the Rev J. David Ekstrom officiating and interment in Union Cemetery. Friends may call this evening.
