About | Ron W. Wells, age 62, passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary's Hospital on Monday, April 18, 2005. He was born on Dec. 16, 1942, in Geneva, Ill., a son of the late Wayne and Marion (Ekstrom) Wells. Ron graduated from St. Charles High School, St. Charles, Ill., in 1960. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an instructor for four years. He furthered his education at Wisconsin School of Electronics, graduating first in his class. After graduation Ron was employed by High Technologies America, Electron Microscope Division as a senior engineer for 35 years, retiring in December 2004. He was united in marriage to Naomi Dean on Oct. 4, 1963, in Flatville, Ill. Ron loved adventure; he loved traveling, snowmobiling, motorcycling, four-wheeling, boating and hiking. His first love was his family, his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Naomi of McFarland; a daughter, Julie Coren of Verona and Ron (Amy) Wells, Jr. of Platteville; five grandchildren, Staci and Stephanie Coren, Eric, John and soon-to-be baby boy, Wells; and a sister, Joanne (Bill) Decker of Cambridge. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, Raymond Dean, John (Yvonne) Dean and George (Karen) Dean; sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Merlyn) Mennenga and Lois (Graham) Wilde; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice Russell Krueger; and a nephew, Paul Russell. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2005, at WEST KOSHKONONG LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1911 Koshkonong Road, Stoughton. The Rev. Richard Dowling will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2005, at OLSON-HOLZHUTER-CRESS, Stoughton, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Ron was a cancer survivor; those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society.
